Little girl when did you feel
It was time to grow?

Was it the moment you refused
Your mother’s breast only to offer your own?
Was it the moment he chose to change
The wrapper over changing your diaper?

Little girl when did you feel
It was time to grow?

Was it the moment where your teacher
Told you that one plus one makes a baby?
Or was it the moment where he taught you
That that same product can be subtracted?

Little girl when did you feel
It was time to grow?

Was it the moment where you opted for
His fingers over a tampon?
Was it the moment where he told you that
You’re a better product than lemonade?

Little girl tell me when you felt
It was time to grow

Was it the moment you realised that madiba bills
Feel better on your skin than raindrops?
Or was it the moment you decided to stick a needle
In your arm instead of a pencil in your hand?

But little girl,

They no longer want your breast.
They no longer want your wrappers.
You’re product is dwindling and so are the raindrops.
Little girl don’t you see.. you’ve grown.
